Well, when you go through your site only to realize you never blogged some of your FAVORITE weddings of all time, it may mean it’s time to catch up on posting. This wedding was perfect from beginning to end. From a gorgeous day in Goshen at Rock Run Creek to a couple so truly in love, the day could not have been more amazing. It was topped off with the most epic midwest sunset that did NOT disappoint! Kara and Hayden, may you have a lifetime of happiness, horses and laughter.

So, if you know me and you know my business…you know I love all things unique. I am NOT a one-size-fits-all type of girl and that proves true for my taste in weddings, too. So when chance had it that Ashley’s original photographer had to back out and she contacted me about her super unique, Disney/Star Wars/Rustic wedding plans, I knew we were meant to be! From our first meeting on, I knew this was a wedding I was pumped to be a part of. The day of was so filled with fun and every single detail offered unique nods to the bride and groom and their shared love of all things Disney and Star Wars. The ceremony was perfect, officiated by a longtime friend and filled with Disney one-liners and personal stories that brought many to tears. The night was then kicked off by a light saber battle. Yup. You read that right! And it was so fun and cool. The reception was filled with fun dancing, more light sabers and lots of love and laughter.

Now, I’m a tad late blogging this wedding…since I am currently chatting with the bride about her upcoming maternity and newborn photos haha. But sometimes, you just have to save the best for last right??

MICRO WEDDING - New Carlisle, IN Wedding Photographer

In 2021, COVID through a wrench in every single bride and groom’s plans. No matter how they chose to handle it, they were faced with so many unknowns and unexpecteds! This wedding was no exception. After meeting this sweet couple to do their engagement photos and chatting about their amazing plans for a tropical destination wedding, I was so excited for them to live out their dreams. Enter COVID. About five weeks before they were due to get married, I got an email saying they had decided to do a micro wedding at their best friends’ home to accommodate high risk family members and overall, just play it safe. Guys. I’m not even kidding, this may have been my fave wedding of the year. It was so small and intimate and beautiful and fun. I loved every tiny detail she had managed to get together in such a short amount of time and turned it into one of the most beautiful weddings to date! It just goes to prove that nothing can stand in the way of your perfect day and sometimes, the lemonade that’s made from those life lemons is pretty darn sweet.

Some couples are just meant to be and this is one of those couples.

I first met Jordan through church events and mutual church friends, only to find out she was also an IG follower on my business page. When I first found out her and CJ were talking about getting engaged, I was beyond thrilled for them. They had had their individual share of hardships but together, their future looked so bright.

A couple who loved God first and each other next isn’t always easy to find in this modern age, but these two fit that mold through and through. As they began to plan their beautiful wedding at the Armory in South Bend, I knew it was going to be so unique and gorgeous. And it was! Their day was filled with laughter, joy, beauty and Jesus. I also loved (and appreciated) how high on the priority list that Jordan put photography on the list of important factors and how completely willing they both were to do all of the fun and unique things. They’re day was so perfect for this perfect couple and I was so grateful to be a part of it.

Can’t wait to get to follow along on their journey in the years to come.

CABLE WEDDING - Union, Michigan Wedding Photographer

This was the wedding of circumstance. From the very beginning, it was irony after irony, but ultimately, it ended up being one of the most beautiful micro-weddings I have ever had the privilege of being a part of!

When I first got the inquiry, the bride had simply signed it, “Molly.” I responded and we chatted and clicked right away. Then about three emails later, after confirming this was a great fit for her wedding photography, we realized we used to work together in college! She knew me by my maiden name so it didn’t click until later and I didn’t see her last name until after the contracts were signed. Small world right? But I was so excited to be a part of her big day even more now that I knew we had a history (we had visited a couple bars and shared some really funny times back in the day)!

Now to their story: Once upon a time, a man proposed to his girlfriend on Christmas Eve and she said yes…then ended up in the ER with meningitis within 24 hours. Once recovered from that, they surged forward with planning. Then COVID became a thing. A BIG thing. And it displaced their wedding not once but twice. Finally, they settled on the idea of a microwedding at her parent’s beautiful lake house in Union Michigan. While it wasn’t what they planned originally, it ended up absolutely perfect. The day could not have bee more gorgeous with blue skies and fluffy white clouds to accompany a crisp quiet lake. The couple were filled with joy and happy tears during the ceremony, accompanied by thirty of their closest relatives and friends while other watched via livestream on social media. After the “I do's” we took a lap around the lake with the wedding party as neighbors shouted and waved and cheered as we floated by.

The details of this wedding absolutely won the year for me. It was so simply, organic, fresh and just absolutely perfect. If I could go back and have Molly and her mom re-do my own wedding decor, I absolutely would.

BEAKAS WEDDING - South Bend, Indiana Wedding Photographer

Well, I’m only a few months behind in blogging this INCREDIBLE and beautiful wedding from last November…

Julie and Evan were such a fun couple and I knew that their wedding was going to be something special. When I first arrived at the bride’s prep location, the bride was the most calm, cool and collected soon-to-be-Mrs. I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Her bridesmaids and flower girls were filled with jokes and laughter as they got ready. And then, they took out…the dress. Now lets just stop and think about how many dresses I get to photograph. It’s a big number! But this dress made me stop and stare. It was absolutely unique and stunning and the bride wore it beautifully.

The photos that followed were taken at the Potawatomi Coservatories, which only added to the already beautiful bride, dress and bridesmaids. Once we were finished there, we headed to The Brick where the rest of the evening’s events would take place. Everything went smoothly and perfectly and the night was filled with even more laughter, food and dancing. This elegant yet eclectic wedding was one to remember and resulted in some of my favorite photos of the year!

From the very first time I had the pleasure of meeting this fun couple, I knew that their level of quirky would totally mesh with my level of quirky (lol). They were full of smiles and laughs and were so excited to start their lives together. Their wedding was completely reflective of that! The preparation before the ceremony was filled with joy and little stress. And the first look, well it was one that did not disappoint! The bride looked gorgeous in her lacey, champagne colored wedding dress and the groom was clearly breath-taken with her natural beauty. The reception that followed was also one of the most hilarious ones of the year…I mean, when the pastor is doing hand stands on the dance floor, its a pretty good indicator that great memories are about to be made! THE SMITH WEDDING - Nappanee, Indiana Wedding Photographer at Coppes Commons

I am a sucker for high school sweethearts and this couple is no exception! Their sweet wedding was lovely from the start, with all of the bridesmaids and bride’s family helping to prep their beautiful Nappanee venue, Coppes Commons. The decorations and colors were the perfect touch for an early fall wedding and despite the wind, the sun and colors were great. The ceremony was so sweet and the prefect way for the couple to lay a foundation for their marriage. The reception that followed was all smiles and laughter (with a couple happy tears, too). Congrats again Mr. & Mrs. Smith!

MICHEL WEDDING - Plymouth, Indiana Wedding Photographer

This wedding. This couple. This RECEPTION!

When I first met Ally and Scott for their engagement session, I knew they were a one-of-a-kind couple. They were so genuine and fun and up for anything, not to mention completely easy to hang out with. And when their wedding day rolled around, it shaped up to be completely perfect. Their gorgeous Plymouth, Indiana venue, Swan Lake Resort, is one of my favorite local places to shoot at. The grounds are gorgeous and the service is top notch and the light in the bridal suite is just an added bonus. Hanging out with the bride and bridesmaids is always a good time, and these ladies did not disappoint. They were hilarious and always up for trying whatever I suggested.

The bride was adamant that no one see outside of her bridal party could see her in her dress and all the hiding ended up totally worth it when she walked down the isle in her amazing gown. And her now-hubby’s reaction did NOT disappoint; in fact, I think he may have won the best reaction of my wedding season. After a lovely ceremony, the real party started and I can honestly say that I think I had as much fun documenting this reception as the guests and couple had partying at it! I seriously love this venue for receptions and I also love when people let loose and just celebrate with inhibition…so apologies for oversharing the hilarious and fun moments that this night brought. And Scott and Ally, thanks again for including me in your day and letting me capture these moments for you!

MORAN WEDDING - South Bend, Indiana Wedding Photographer

This was a joyful wedding from the very start! From a warm welcome into the bride’s parents’ home where laughter filled the kitchen as we waited for the bride to arrive from the salon. The trend continued throughout the day as everyone moved to the venue to prepare for the wedding. The ceremony was custom and beautiful and went off without a hitch and was followed by some seriously hilarious bridal party photos and couple’s portraits out in the woods. The reception did NOT disappoint in the fun department either! Everyone was dancing, laughing and making memories throughout the night, only to end with bonfires, sing-alongs and a cell phone light send-off. ORTEGA WEDDING - Syracuse Indiana Wedding Photographer

I love authenticity (incase you missed my slogan of “real over ideal”). So when I first met with this fun couple and they described how they were having a very authentic, traditional Mexican wedding, I was sold immediately. They were incorporating so many fun dances and cultural traditions!

From the very start of the day, which was also the hottest day of the year with heat indexes over 110, the guys were a blast to be around; full of laughter and jokes. The girls were calm, cool and collected. The ceremony was lovely and close friends and family gathered to bless their union. Then, during couple’s portraits, we snuck off for a quick stop at the local ice cream shop before jumping into the hot but fun photos. At the reception. hundreds packed into the gorgeous Wynona Heritage Room to get the party started. I’m not sure what my favorite part was: the dance where they tried to knock the bride and groom off of chairs or the one where they throw the groom up so high it made my stomach flip! RANSBOTTOM WEDDING - Plymouth Indiana and Michigan Wedding Photographer

When I first met with this sweet couple, they had just recently found out that they were expecting a baby! Talk about chaos: wedding planning AND a new little one. After chatting for a while, it was obvious that they were so excited for both major life events. Fast forward a year and their dream wedding was finally a reality, complete with a happy, smiley 10 month old boy.

Blissful Barn did not disappoint as a picture perfect venue. This rustic chic setting, along with the bride’s amazing attention to detail, lead to one of the prettiest weddings I’ve had the pleasure of capturing. Not to mention her dress (from Paris House of Bridal) was basically amazing in every possible way. The day went so perfectly and there was no apparent stress from anyone. From the surprise first look with the bride’s dad to a gorgeously unique set up for the ceremony to a fun-filled reception, this wedding was as good as it gets.
