UNCONVENTIONAL TWINS: SISTERS BORN THREE WEEKS APART - South Bend, Indiana Fresh 48 and Newborn Photographer

Twins! But not really…

Sisters. Born three weeks apart. And 100% biologically related.

When Rachel & her husband decided they wanted to add a third child to their family, they started down the familiar road of fertility struggles. While never an easy journey, they had high hopes after having two successful pregnancies and healthy babies in the years prior but unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. Despite four pregnancies while trying for baby number three, the couple also experienced four losses. At this point, they were informed that surrogacy would likely be their best chance at growing their family and so, with newfound determination and hope, they began this new process to seek out the perfect surrogate.

That’s where Holly comes in. They found her through Family Source Consultants and knew she was the perfect person to be the surrogate for their miracle baby. Holly is a true hero, full of selflessness and compassion, willing to carry another family’s child. (What a gift for one human to give to another!) As a mother of two herself, Holly knew the joy that she could offer to another family and her passion for surrogacy allowed her to do just that. And so, they decided to move forward with an embryo transfer. But again, things never go as expected and a few short weeks before the transfer, the Rachel found out she was expecting again. However, after the previous number of losses, the hopes were not high for this fifth pregnancy and so they continued with the surrogacy transfer which also ended up successful!

Fast forward eight months, and to everyone’s immense joy, two healthy babies, sisters, were growing inside two separate wombs yet due to be born only weeks apart! Against all odds, both babies were healthy, full term and ready to join the world. Rachel’s baby came first, at a healthy 9lbs, born in Chicago and named Juniper. After spending just three weeks with her two older siblings and parents, “Juni” made the drive to South Bend to be there for the arrival of her sister, born via surrogate at a perfectly tiny 6lbs and happily christened Poppy.

Both their biological mom and surrogate, who strived, fought and worked so hard for both of their arrivals, could now smile down at the perfect faces of beautiful baby girls. What an incredible blessing these babies are! And so, the world now has the most unconventional set of sisters…almost twins, but not quite. Juniper and Poppy are both thriving and happy and getting accustomed to life in Chicago with two older siblings and adoring parents.
