HOW TO MAKE YOUR WEDDING DAY EPIC

YOUR PHOTOS SHOULD BE BUILT INTO YOUR DAY. YOUR DAY SHOULD NOT BE BUILT AROUND YOUR PHOTOS!

You spend months and month planning for this ONE day and then suddenly, BAM, its here! What now? First, breathe. Everything will happen as its supposed to and it will be great, even if things don’t go exactly as planned. While your photos shouldn’t be an interruption to your day, there are a few things that you can do to ensure that the days goes smoothly and your photos aren’t one of the reasons you feel stress that day.

Lay details aside…

The night before, gather up the items for your detail shots and put them in a box or bag. These often include a copy of your invitation, the bride’s shoes, all the rings (engagement, band and groom’s), perfumes and colognes, jewelry, any sentimental items, garter and the veil if you have one. Having those things all in one place makes things much simpler for both you and me!

Have a special hanger…

If you plan to have me photograph your dress hanging before you put it on, set aside a nice hanger. It can be something simple like a traditional wooden hanger or it can be an Etsy custom one with your new last name. But no matter what style you go with, make sure it has a swivel hook!

Put someone in charge...

Make sure that you have someone who is familiar with the itinerary and other wedding details who is willing to keep things running smoothly. This helps a lot when those small details start to matter! I am always happy to organize and help with the timing as much as possible, but I won’t be familiar with all of the finer details of your day so having someone else to assist is a huge benefit.

The kiss(es)…

It’s done. The ceremony is coming to a close, You’re officially man and wife…now for that epic first kiss! Make. It. Count. You only get one first kiss so make it good. Then, for an added adorable bonus photo, after you have walked down the aisle hand-in-hand, stop and share one more big smooch. It’s always a great shot with your guests clapping in the background!

keep me updated…

If you make changes to the schedule or have a sudden change in plans, that is 100% ok…just let me know! Nothing feels worse to a photographer than missing a moment they didn’t know was coming. And don’t forget to tell me if you’re up for some creative shots (romantic sunset photos, a spotlight dance, something fun at the reception, whatever)! I’m happy to accommodate but I also don’t want to hound you the day of, so lets discuss those fun shots ahead of time :)
