LOOK GOOD, FEEL AMAZING & LET YOUR LOVE SHINE!

Color Palette

Choosing the right colors helps create a beautiful, cohesive look that photographs well in any setting.

BEST COLOR FAMILIES:

Neutrals: Cream, taupe, beige, ivory, soft gray

Earthy Tones: Sage, rust, terracotta, dusty rose, mustard

Soft Pastels: Blush pink, pale blue, lavender, mint

Deep Hues: Emerald, navy, burgundy, charcoal for a more formal or cozy vibe

Avoid: Neon colors, large logos, and ultra-bright white—these can reflect light harshly or distract from your faces.

Cohesive, NOT Matching

Think in tones and textures, not twin outfits. Choose outfits that complement each other, not ones that are identical.

Don’t be afraid of patterns!

Choose one or two people to wear a floral or subtle plaid. Just don’t double up on the same or similar patterns and try and have more solids than patterns!

Textures & Layers

Textures add visual interest, especially in close-ups.

Great textures: Linen, knit, tulle, denim, corduroy, suede, lace

Add a jacket, cardigan, vest, or hat for dimension.

Gentle layers move well in the wind and bring photos to life.

Layer up the jewelry! It is like the icing on the cake and makes the finished product look refined and purposeful.

Shoes & Accessories

Wear shoes you can walk in easily – sessions often involve some movement.

Neutral boots, strappy sandals, or barefoot on the beach = yes

Avoid bright sneakers or flashy logos

Add a felt hat, belt, dainty jewelry, or watch for subtle detail and a polished look.

Don’t forget your NAILS! Neutral colors are always best. And what a great chance to schedule a manicure ;)

What to Expect from the Shoot

  • Sessions are typically scheduled during golden hour for dreamy light.

  • Expect movement, laughter, and a lot of cuddling.

  • I’ll guide you the whole time, so you’re never awkward—promise!

Bonus: What to Bring

  • Small snacks to keep kiddos extra happy (think puffs, cereals, etc). Nothing bright colored or large; we want them to be able to chew fast and hold them subtly in their hands.

  • A favorite book or family activity to bust out for some candid moments.

  • Your dog (if you have one and want them in a few pics!)

Final Tips

  • Try on your outfits ahead of time – check for fit, comfort, and how they move.

  • Steam or iron clothes beforehand to avoid wrinkles.

  • Light makeup and natural hair photograph beautifully.

  • Bring water, a comb, and touch-up items (like lipstick or powder) in a small bag.

Still feeling unsure? Remember, you can always text me photos of your outfits and we can go over things together!
